A Peace Treaty Horon Ecru Silk Scarf is hand spun and hand dyed giving these scarves a luxurious look and texture. Marbleized pattern with tile border in ecru, light pink, mint and rust.  100% Crepe Silk; Baby-hemmed edges. Measures 45” x 45”.  Hand screen-printed in India.

A PEACE TREATY’s TAVLA Collection starts its journey amidst the height of the Ottoman-Turkish Empire, when design was influenced by geometry and elaborate pattern. Swirling marbleized paper was traded amongst traveling writers and artists, and Turkish backgammon was played on intricately carved boards made of dark wood and luminescent mother-of-pearl. Modern versions of geometric design and flickering movement also make their way into TAVLA in the form of mesmerizing Op Art and Mod fashions. Rejecting the dreary trends of their parents, British artists and youth of the 1960’s replaced them with playful vibrating patterns.

The scarves of TAVLA are coloured with a palette of lively neons and vintage feminine tints, representing art from both the ancient and modern worlds. These luxurious silk and modal-silk textiles are printed with abstract geometric patterns, hypnotic marbleized repetitions, and classic Turkish designs. Each piece, screenprinted by hand in artisan co-ops of West Bengal, is a daring composition in which intricate patterns and contrasting colors vibrantly come to life.

A Peace Treaty is an evolving collection aimed at creating ethically produced, artisan level accessories and apparel for the luxury fashion marketplace.

Each season, A PEACE TREATY travels to a particular region and seeks out local village artisans to re-define an accessory, designing limited edition pieces in style unique colorways. Each jewelry or scarf collection resuscitates ancient handmade textile and metalsmithing techniques that are at risk of extinction. Working with craftspeople in nine countries and injecting life and trade back into local economies, A PEACE TREATY employs artisans with above fair trade wages and invests in creating income generation opportunities for out-of-work artisans, disabled, widowed and marginalized women. A PEACE TREATY artisan partnerships are situated in Pakistan, India, Nepal, Turkey, Afghanistan, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and the US.
